Groundbreaking ceremony for a new nuclear chemistry substitute at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

The nuclear chemistry of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) with its research reactor TRIGA has been given a new laboratory building. DGI Bauwerk provides work phases 2-9. The ensemble from the 1960s is replaced by a new building that is structurally and functionally connected to the building erected in 2008. The state government of Rhineland-Palatinate is investing around 43.5 million euros in the new replacement building with a usable area of ​​around 2,000 square metres. The groundbreaking ceremony is held by University President Professor Georg Krausch, Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Science, Professor Konrad Wolf and the Rhineland-Palatinate Finance Minister Doris Ahnen. Afterwards Professor Tobias Reich, Dean of Faculty 09 Chemistry, Pharmacy, Geography and Earth Sciences as well as Holger Basten, Managing Director of the State Property and Building Management (LBB) explain the design and the construction measure.
