With the wind and smart grid laboratory incurred in Hamburg-Bergedorf the University of Applied Sciences [HAW] Hamburg promotes the development of wind energy. The wind lab will be directly linked to a future wind farm and enables research and teaching in close proximity to the wind turbines. The building services include an experimental hall, cogeneration, heat pump, heat registers, a mounting surface for wind turbines as well as a separate room for electrolysis and methanation are located on the ground floor of the two storey building. These areas are used for research purposes and serve the energy supply of the building at the same time. Office space, a seminar and working space as well as room for the technical installation of the optional planned photovoltaic system on the flat roof are housed upstairs.
