Since 2008 DGI Bauwerk plans and realizes the new buildings and extensions on the campus of the Fritz Haber Institute [FHI] in Berlin-Dahlem. The main interest of the science centre is the research about the basic properties of atoms, molecules and electrons. Thereby high security requirements and complex technical demands are planning criteria for every project on this campus.
The new research building for precision laser laboratories is divided into two three-storey main buildings, which are connected through the foyer. The three components are structurally and constructively completely separated. This solution meets the requirements for straight experiment design and trouble-free test setups. The offices are located in the northern part of the building. The necessary technical facilities are housed in a separate area. This prevents the transmission of vibration and noise in the sensitive laboratories.
On the one hand the office building adapts to the existing buildings through its colour and material. On the other hand, it distinguishes with its gold-coloured metal facade of the surrounding buildings.
