The Fraunhofer WKI’s ”Center for Light and Environmentally-Friendly Structures ZELUBA®” is located on the campus of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. At the ZELUBA®, they focus on research and development of light and hybrid materials and structural elements including their environmental and fire performance.
The competition entries demonstrate the potential of modern timber construction in terms of innovative designs and technological load-bearing structures for private, commercial and public buildings in Lower Saxony. The award ceremony took place on 2 November 2022 in the Old Town Hall in Hanover with around eighty guests. Nine timber buildings were shortlisted from a total of 29 applications. The president of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Architects, Robert Marlow, presented the timber construction projects and the results of the jury.
Our project architects Mathias Handorf/DGI Bauwerk and Malte Kittelmann/schneider+schumacher happily accepted the certificates of recognition for the ZeluBa research building, which were presented by Forestry Minister Otte-Kinast and Chamber President Marlow.
