The testing hall planned and realised by DGI Bauwerk and equipped with a façade-integrated photovoltaic system is now being operated by Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin as a real laboratory.
The official commissioning took place on 6 September 2021 in the presence of the State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Energy and Operations of the State of Berlin, Christian Rickerts.
Different seasons and weather conditions: Over long periods of time, the actual behaviour of the solar modules can now be researched. In the building itself [clean room, various laboratories and assembly stations], researchers develop and build globally unique components for BESSY II and other synchrotron radiation sources for internationally renowned accelerator research at HZB.
