On August 28, 2019, the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research celebrated together with the building trades the topping-out ceremony for the “Center for Light and Environmentally Friendly Structures [ZELUBA]” on the ground of the TU Braunschweig. The goal: the development of sustainable construction solutions for buildings.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Bohumil Kasal director of the Fraunhofer WKI explained the importance of the building: “What kind of new, sustainable materials can we develop to enable existing and future buildings to withstand the climate change?” For example: how to combine building materials to create new space while increasing energy efficiency? With the new building ZELUBA, we are giving the right room to research urgent questions of today. ”
After completion, which is scheduled for summer 2020, “ZELUBA” the scientific department of the Fraunhofer WKI will move into the building and continue its research and development work in cooperation with the TU Braunschweig.
