At the TU Braunschweig campus, the Centre for Light and Environmentally-Friendly Structures [ZELUBA] of the Wilhelm Klauditz Institute is currently being built. The scientific building features a modular hybrid design with large-size wooden prefabricated elements.
Now the time has come: on August 28, 2019 the topping out ceremony can be celebrated right on schedule.
Developing flexible solutions for new buildings and conversions the combination of widely-differing materials, such as wood, steel, concrete and glass, presents a challenge in building construction which needs to be dealt with for economic and ecological reasons. The employees of the Fraunhofer WKI and the TU Braunschweig are researching together on innovative solutions in the field of hybrid, modular construction as well as in the development of light and environmentally-friendly construction systems. The Life Cycle Assessment of the building materials, hybrid components or entire buildings is also a sector in the field of work.
